Tom Felton Returns as Draco Malfoy in Broadway's 'Cursed Child'

In a momentous event for fans of the Harry Potter franchise, actor Tom Felton is set to reprise his iconic role as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This marks the first time an original cast member from the film series has joined the stage adaptation, bringing a wave of nostalgia and excitement to audiences


Felton, who portrayed the complex Slytherin antagonist throughout all eight Harry Potter films from 2001 to 2011, expressed profound emotion about returning to the character. "Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honors of my life," he stated. "Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I'll also be the exact age Draco is in the play. It's surreal to be stepping back into his shoes and of course his iconic platinum blond hair.


Felton's Broadway debut will commence on November 11, 2025, at New York City's Lyric Theatre. He will perform for a limited 19-week engagement, concluding on March 22, 2026. Tickets for this special run will go on sale to the general public on June 12, with a pre-sale beginning on June 10.


Harry Potter and the Cursed child, written by Jack Thorne based on a story by J.K. Rowling, Thorne, and director John Tiffany, is set 19 years after the events of the original series. The play focuses on Harry Potter's son, Albus Severus ... and his friendship with Scorpius Malfoy, Draco's son. Together, they grapple with the weight of their family legacies and embark on a time-traveling adventure that challenges their understanding of the past and present.


The Broadway production of Cursed Child has been running since April 2018 and has garnered critical acclaim, including six Tony Awards. The current cast features Matthew James Thomas as Harry Potter, Rachel Christopher as Hermione Granger, Daniel Fredrick as Ron Weasley, and Sarah Killough as Ginny Potter. Felton will take over the role of Draco Malfoy from Aaron Bartz.


The announcement of Felton's return has ignited enthusiasm among fans worldwide.
