In a recent episode of Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, rapper Offset opened up about the fractures in his seven-year marriage to Cardi B, admitting he made serious mistakes among them infidelity that contributed to their split. He acknowledged that he should have shown more respect to Cardi and accepted responsibility for his actions, saying “stepping out” was among the bad decisions he made.
Offset and Cardi’s marriage has long been scrutinized, and this admission adds new texture to their public saga. They were married in 2017 and share three children: Kulture, Wave, and Blossom. Their divorce filing in July 2024 came after years of on-again, off-again tensions, and the process is not yet finalized.
Speaking to Palmer, Offset said he recognized that his behavior had been selfish and wrong. “I should’ve respected her way more … I made bad decisions as a man, like stepping out,” he confessed. He added that when the relationship ended, “I had to take that on the chin,” accepting the consequences of his actions.
He also discussed how their relationship was played out in public, saying that having their private life exposed “on the front screen” exacerbated the pain and pressure. Offset admitted the narrative about their breakup often skewed negative, and expressed regret over the “internet stuff” that fueled public assumptions and backlash.
Meanwhile, Cardi B has spoken openly about her own emotional journey through the breakdown of their marriage. On the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast she said that she “felt the love dying” from both sides and described a profound loneliness that persisted even before their legal separation. She explained that it took months for her heart to fully accept that the relationship was over, saying that speaking the words or acting on them was easier than internal acceptance.
Cardi has also revealed that during the split she sought emotional support and counsel. She credited fellow singer Shakira for offering guidance as she navigated heartbreak and public scrutiny. She described healing as a process one that required both courage and time for her heart to catch up with her decisions.
Despite the turbulence, both continue to emphasize their shared role as parents. Offset and Cardi remain legally tied through custody and co-parenting of their children. The personal disclosures add new context to the public strain and underscore how fame amplifies the vulnerabilities in private relationships.
Offset’s admission is a bold acknowledgment in a relationship long dissected in headlines and social media. It underscores not just error but ownership. The willingness to confront past wrongs publicly may shift how fans and critics understand the narrative though it inevitably will raise questions about healing, accountability, and what comes next for both.
