CMA Awards 2026 Nominations Put Ella Langley at the Center of Country’s Big Night

The CMA Awards 2026 nominations have put Ella Langley at the center of country music’s next major awards night. Announced September 10, the list gives her nine nominations across seven categories, including Entertainer of the Year. The total reflects recognition for more than one recording and more than one kind of contribution, making her lead broader than a single song’s appearance on the ballot.

The distinction between nine nominations and seven categories is straightforward: Langley has two entries in both Single of the Year and Song of the Year. Be Her and Choosin’ Texas appear in each race. The other nominations cover Dandelion for Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Musical Event of the Year, Music Video of the Year and the top entertainer prize.

That spread gives voters several separate decisions to make. A single category recognizes a recording, while the song category centers on songwriting. An album nomination puts a larger body of work into competition. Seeing the same title more than once does not mean it has accidentally been counted twice; it means different aspects of the work are eligible for different honors.

Langley’s Entertainer of the Year nomination places her alongside Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton and Lainey Wilson. The leading nomination total does not determine that result in advance. It establishes how extensively her work appears across the ballot, while the entertainer category remains its own contest among five nominees with distinct bodies of work and audiences.

Miranda Lambert follows with seven nominations on the official CMA list. Her total includes work as a performer, songwriter and producer, illustrating how a musician’s influence can appear in several parts of an awards announcement. Lambert’s involvement in Langley’s projects also gives this year’s nominations a collaborative dimension: one artist’s leading total can reflect work made with other prominent figures rather than an entirely separate creative story.

Lambert’s nominations include production recognition connected to Be Her, Choosin’ Texas and Dandelion, plus songwriting recognition for Choosin’ Texas. She is also nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and for musical collaborations with Chris Stapleton and Kacey Musgraves. Counting those distinct credits produces seven nominations, the figure given by the association’s complete announcement.

Musgraves and Ben West each have five nominations, while Johnson, Stapleton and Stephen Wilson Jr. each have four. These totals widen the story beyond the artist at the top. They also underline why an awards list is not simply a ranking of singers: producers and songwriters can receive recognition through the recordings they help create, alongside nominations bearing an artist’s name in performance categories.

The album race puts Dandelion against Zach Top’s Ain’t in It for My Health, Musgraves’ Middle of Nowhere, Parker McCollum’s self-titled album and Combs’ The Way I Am. It is a different comparison from choosing a favorite individual track. Voters will be considering a full release in a field that brings several of the year’s nominated artists into direct competition with one another.

Collaboration is also part of Langley’s ballot. I Can’t Love You Anymore, with Morgan Wallen, is nominated for Musical Event of the Year, while Choosin’ Texas appears in the video category. Those entries show how the same awards cycle can recognize an artist through a duet and a visual project as well as solo recordings. They do not establish which songs will be performed during the eventual broadcast.

The New Artist of the Year nominees are Avery Anna, Carter Faith, Emily Ann Roberts, Tucker Wetmore and Stephen Wilson Jr. That category offers another set of performers for viewers to explore before the ceremony, rather than treating the biggest nomination totals as the only listening guide. Wilson’s presence there alongside his wider nominations is one of the connections running through the announcement.

The awards will be presented November 18 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. The broadcast is scheduled for 8 to 11 p.m. Eastern on ABC and Disney+, with Hulu availability the following day. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale September 18. Those dates concern access to the ceremony; the nomination announcement itself is not a full performance lineup or a guarantee that any particular collaboration will be recreated on stage.

CMA’s final voting round runs from October 1 through October 27. Until the results are announced, the list is best read as a set of competitions, not a collection of wins already secured. Langley has the most nominations and several of the night’s most visible opportunities. What she takes home will depend on the votes in those separate categories when country music gathers in Nashville in November.
